How to distinguish Shank adaptors from tail drills
Among the many products of rock drill tools, Shank adaptors and tail drills have similar names, but their functions and uses are very different. Rock drill tools are made of special drill steel materials through multiple precision processing and complex heat treatment processes. They are mainly used in drilling equipment in the mining and engineering blasting industries, such as drilling rigs and drilling vehicles, as consumable accessories for mechanical equipment.
Tail drill: It is a hexagonal light threaded drill rod designed for small-diameter rock drilling operations. It is used in conjunction with hydraulic rock drills and is widely used in natural stone mining, underground excavation and rock drilling, and tunnel excavation projects. As an intermediate connecting drill rod, the tail drill can provide higher drilling efficiency than conical drills, quarrying drills or integral handheld air drills.
Shank adaptors: It is a key component that connects the drill head and the drill rod and transmits the impact force. Its material selection is very strict, the processing process is cumbersome, and it needs to undergo a high-standard carburizing heat treatment process to meet high technical requirements.
Generally speaking, external thread Shank adaptors are more suitable for light excavation, tunneling and heavy excavation, which are often accompanied by high bending stress. Internal thread Shank adaptors are more suitable for situations where the working space is limited and a longer feed length is required, such as roof anchoring in underground construction.
